Our Mission

City of Bridgeport Human Resources Department serves as the centralized personnel to provide support and consulting the various City Departments to assist in managing their staff to meet the City’s goals and objectives as well as departmental services to:

  • Recruit and retain the most qualified employees for the City of Bridgeport.
  • Develop a positive attitude of teamwork, build city moral and quality in our day-to-day operations.
  • Provide HR planning and training in areas of employee development and accountability.
  • Create an atmosphere that fosters challenges, fun, safety and cleanliness.
  • Develop a system to ensure compliance with State and Federal laws and regulations.
  • Accept responsibility for promoting ethical and legal conduct in personal and business practices.
  • Communicate in a candid and fair manner with our diverse workforce from whom our City derives its strength.
